Around View Monitor 360°
VIEWS You always like to have the full picture?
Cameras on the front, rear and each side of the Optima give you a 360° bird's eye view of the space around you while parking or at speeds below 12.5 mph.
Rear cross traffic alert (RCTA)
This feature makes it easier to reverse out of parking spaces or a driveway. When the system radar sensors at the rear bumper detect a moving object such as a car or motorcycle, a warning is displayed in the instrument cluster and the lights embedded within the exterior mirrors lash. An audible wanring is also emitted.
This system also picks up people, so can detect children walking towards your reversing vehicle.
When it comes to safety The All-new Optima sets new standards and has achieved the maximum 5 Star Euro NCAP Safety Rating. Improvements to the cage include a smarter use of metals and adhesives and even more attention to every critical detail.
The Optima was praised in particular for its ability to offer uniformly high levels of protection to all occupants during the frontal offset test and in the event of a side barrier impact, no matter the size of passenger or where they were sitting in the car. As a means of offering the best possible protection to occupants, active safety assist technologies are key features in new Kia models, resulting in the Optima scoring 71 per cent in the ‘Safety Assist’ category – an increasingly important part of NCAP’s independent testing process.
The All-new Optima uses more than 50% Advanced High-Strength Steel, a 150% increase over the previous model. The new ring-shaped section defines the boot opening behind the rear seats below the shelf - and substantially increases body rigidity.
